Trio Loyko

The musical band Loyko was established in 1990 and was originally a duo. The repertoire is based on classical Romani melodies and tunes. The artistic director since the group's inception has been its founder, Sergei Erdenko, one of the best Romani violinists in the world.

The band is named after a gypsy man's name. Loyko is one of the characters in the story "Makar Chudra" by Maxim Gorky. Sergei Erdenko describes Loyko as a brilliant gypsy with countless virtues, including musical ones: he played the violin so soulfully that birds would sit on his shoulders and sing along.

The composition of the ensemble has changed many times, each of the members contributed to the creation of the unique sound of the musical ensemble. Currently there are three members of Loyko: Sergei Erdenko (violin), Artur Gorbenko (violin) and Mikhail Savichev (guitar).

The Loyko Trio plays in the world's best concert halls and performs on the same stage as classical and rock musicians. The group is constantly experimenting with genres, supplementing programmes with jazz themes and delighting the most sophisticated audience with originality, skill and fantastic virtuosity. According to critics, the trio rightfully belongs to the world's violin elite and continues to be a sensation in the musical world.
