Igor Butman Quartet

Igor Butman - People's Artist of Russia, world-famous saxophonist - leads not only the Moscow Jazz Orchestra, but also his own jazz Quartet. Since 1999, the Quartet has held the title of "trade mark" of Russian jazz. The artists have been invited to perform in the Kremlin before the leaders of two countries - US President Bill Clinton and Russian President Vladimir Putin, and before Chinese President Jiang Zemin. Over the years, the group has participated in festivals in Germany, France, Italy, Finland, Bulgaria and Turkey, and performed at the best concert venues around the world. The group has toured in the USA, Canada, Israel, India, performed in the most famous jazz clubs - Birdland, Smoke, Regattabar and many others. The members of the quartet are saxophonist Igor Butman, pianist Oleg Akkuratov, drummer Edaurd Zizak and double bassist Nikolai Zatolochnii.

Igor Butman is regarded as the main ambassador of Russian jazz art on the world stage. In 1999 he founded his famous Moscow Jazz Orchestra, Quartet and Quintet, which have toured hundreds of cities around the world for almost two decades. Igor Butman's discography includes 17 albums, including Magic Land, recorded with Chick Corea, Jack Dejonnette, John Patitucci, Stephon Harris and Randy Brecker.

Oleg Akkuratov is a laureate of numerous international competitions, a unique musician who brilliantly performs both academic and jazz music. Oleg performed at the Closing Ceremony of the XI Paralympic Games and the World Festival of Youth and Students in Sochi. Since 2013, the musician has been actively involved in Igor Butman's international projects. Over the past few years, as a member of the Igor Butman Quartet and the Moscow Jazz Orchestra, he has performed on tour in Canada, China, Israel, India and Latvia, as well as several tours of the USA. In April 2016, the pianist's debut album Golden Sunray, recorded with the Igor Butman Quartet, was released on Butman Music Records. In 2018, Oleg took second place at the prestigious Sarah Vaughan International Jazz Vocal Competition held in the birthplace of jazz, the USA. In 2020, Oleg became a participant of the 9th season of the show "The Voice" on Channel One.

Eduard Zizak is a soloist of the Moscow Jazz Orchestra, a regular member of Igor Butman's quartet and big band, and one of the best drummers in the country. The musician began his co-operation with the world-famous saxophonist having already had many years of experience in Igor Brill's quintet, Viacheslav Preobrazhenskii's ensemble and Anatolii Kroll's MKS Big Band.

Nikolai Zatolochnii is a double bassist, winner of international competitions and festivals. In 2013 he took part in the musical show Big Jazz on the Kultura TV channel. He has collaborated with such musicians as David Goloshchekin, Gennadii Goldstein, Ilia Lustak, Dmitrii Baevskii, Deborah Brown, Clifford Barbaro, Alex Hoffman and others.
