Aleksandrov Ensemble
Academic, twice holding the Order of the Red Banner, of the Order of the Red Star, Song and Dance Ensemble of the Russian Army named after Aleksandrov is a legendary Russian military creative collective, the world's first army song and dance ensemble, founded by Major General Aleksandrov in 1928. This is a unique creative phenomenon of our country, on its model were formed military song and dance ensembles in the military districts of the USSR and in many countries around the world. Since February 2017, the illustrious ensemble, numbering over 300 people, is headed by Honoured Artist of Russia, Colonel Gennadii Sacheniuk.
The sound of the Aleksandrov Ensemble orchestra is recognisable from the first chords: Russian folk instruments such as domras, balalaikas and bayans are surprisingly combined with woodwinds and brass instruments of the symphony orchestra, percussion, double basses and piano. The choir of the Aleksandrov Ensemble is recognised as one of the best in the world. It combines the slenderness and purity of the sound of an academic a cappella with the vivid emotionality and spontaneity inherent in folk performance.
The ensemble's repertoire includes more than two thousand works of various genres. The soloists and artists of the Aleksandrov Choir sing in many languages of the world, including various dialects of China, India and other Asian countries. During the Great Patriotic War the artists gave more than one and a half thousand concerts on the front line, performed in hot spots, and continue this important mission today.
The ensemble has toured to 77 countries of the world - Europe and Asia, North and South America, Africa. And everywhere its performances have met with a truly triumphant success. During its glorious history, the Aleksandrov Ensemble has won the hearts of millions of its compatriots and received wide international recognition thanks to its uniqueness and brilliant craftsmanship, based on traditions accumulated over decades and carefully preserved.
