The idea to create the group belongs to Aleksei Umnov, a pupil of the Ryazan Boys and Youth Choir &lsquo;Lyubomir&rsquo;, an honoured figure of Karelia. His initiative was supported by the Head of Karelia Artur Parfenchikov and approved by the deputies of the republican parliament.</p>\r\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">During five concert seasons the Male Chamber Choir has performed not only within the Republic of Karelia (Petrozavodsk, Ruskeala, Kondopoga, Medvezhegorsk, Olonets and Pitkyaranta), but also in Russian cities: Moscow, St. Petersburg, Novosibirsk, Kaliningrad, Yaroslavl, Ivanovo, Cherepovets, Vologda, Semenov, Gorodets and Rostov Veliky, among others. Since 2022, the choir has taken part in concert events at the Moscow Easter Festival every year, which is conducted by Maestro Valerii Abisalovich Gergiev.</p>\r\n<hr />\r\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Art director and conductor &mdash; honoured arts worker <strong>Aleksei Umnov</strong></p>\r\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Aleksei Umnov graduated from the Ryazan music college (named after Grigorii and Aleksandr Pirogov), from the Petrozavodsk State Conservatory (named after Aleksandr Glazunov) and finished postgraduate studying in academic choir conducting.</p>\r\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Since 2009 he has been teaching in Petrozavodsk conservatory at the Conducting Department. Now he is working as a senior lecturer.</p>\r\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In different years he worked with different choirs and ensembles. In 2006-2008 he was a choirmaster of the students' Academic choir in Petrozavodsk State University.</p>\r\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In 2007 Aleksei founded Karelian Male Choir and since then has been working there as an art director. Although the choir is amateur, it has gained public admiration not only in Russia but also abroad.</p>\r\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In 2016 Aleksei Umnov established a unique Male Choir Singing Centre in Petrozavodsk. Now there are boys and men aged from 4 to 55 years.</p>\r\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Aleksei Umnov is a laureate of international competitions, all-Russian choral competitions and festivals, international forums of student choirs, winner of a gold medal at the First World Championship in choral singing (Austria, 2011), gold medals at the 8th and 9th World Choir Games (Latvia, 2014; Russia, 2016).</p></div>\n"}
