Folk band Skylark

Folk band Skylark was founded in the summer of 2001 in Petrozavodsk. The muscisians found their own way of producing the music – the main idea is their original adaptations of folk songs and a careful treatment of the roots and traditions.

Today Skylark consists of four musicians: Denis Kozlov (flute, clarinet, bagpipe, miankiuria, whistle, pilli, cajon, vocal); Elena Magnitskaia (kantele-prima, 10 strings kantele, jouhikko, mandoline, talharpa, nyckelharpa, bodhran, pontic lyra, vocal); Andrei Smolin (bouzouki, double-bass, vocal); Denis Gorodnichin (accordion).

“Skylark” has an intense touring schedule around Russia. They had solo performances in Moscow, in Saint-Petersburg, in Arkhangelsk, Murmansk and Tula Regions, in Tatarstan, in Udmurtia and of course in Karelia.

The folk band is a participant of big music festivals in the USA, the Czech Republic, Wales, Ireland, Germany, Finland, France, Belarus, Sweden and Estonia.
