Martin Alvarado & Companeros ensemble

Martin Alvarado (tenor, Argentina) is one of the best tango-singers of the new generation. He is called "a young voice of Buenos Aires" and "one of the most popular Argentines of the planet". Martin toured the whole world with concerts, cooperates with the Karelian ensemble "Companeros" from 2011.

He is well-known not only for his interpretations of popular tango music, but also as the author of his own songs written on the verge of tango, jazz and rock. According to the singer, "... tango must grow, develop and stay interesting for contemporaries, especially for young people. For me, tango is the language of life ...".

Gifted with beautiful vocal talent along with charisma and the ability to communicated with the audience, Martin Alvarado is compared by critics to the superstar of the song tango of the 1930s Carlos Gardel and named "the most significant tango singer of modern times."


Companeros — instrumental tango ensemble (the name can be translated as "buddies") is a community of Karelian musicians performing Argentine tango, Latin American popular music, music in the New Muset style and jazz.  It accompanies vocalists and dancers from Russia, Europe and America.

The ensemble works at the concert sites in the Republic of Karelia and other regions in Russia. It has performed at such prestigious stages of Russia as the International House of Music in Moscow and the St. Petersburg State Philharmonic.

Founder, ideological leader and inspirer of the group is the laureate of international competitions, the Honored Artist of the Republic of Karelia Mikhail Totsky. 

At Ruskeala Symphony the ensemble will perform in a larger group and will consist of the Honored artist of the Republic of Karelia Mikhail Totsky (bandoneon), Anatoly Palayev (piano), Miroslav Volodin (double bass), Arkady Sokolov (percussion), the Honored artist of the Republic of Karelia Valery Bobkov (vibraphone).  Special guests of the festival concert are the laureate of international contests Evgeny Popov (violin, Murmansk) and Anton Melanen (guitar, Finland).
